Daddy's Catch!

Fishing Trip

Daniel(Hubby) and Isaac(3) went with Grandpa A., Uncle Brian, and cousins Levi and Caleb on a guys fishing trip earlier tonight. This was Isaac's first time to go fishing. He had a blast! I think everyone caught at least one fish (catch and release). You can see in Isaac's face how much he enjoyed it! He is his father's son, he loves almost any type of animal. Any bug he finds is his "friend" and Mommy often tells him to put it in the potty and see if it can swim. (I know you all think that I am awful!) Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

The new color! (The old color was a pale yellow.) I did take these pics at about midnight, so they don't do it justice!

I know you all have been waiting in suspense to know whether I am living amidst poo or chocolate, so I will have you wait no longer. It actually looks like neither, but I would say it is closer to chocolate. It really warms up the whole room and is a nice calming color. (Which is good with 4 little ones running around.) I really like it! The only bad part is that it shows off how horrible the trim is. The previous owners left signs of what other the colors the room has been painted in the past, all over the trim and their cats showed off their scratching abilities all over the bottom half of it, too. So, you can imagine how lovely it looks. We plan to replace almost all of it and paint it cream, but right now time and money are not anything we have in abundance. (What's new?) So, I am enjoying this wonderful change and remembering that these things all happen in phases.

A big "Thank You!" goes out to Mom and Dad W. for the idea and means to make it happen. They really are GREAT parents and I appreciate them so much!!

Family

Hannah and Isaac sitting on the deck

We have been here in Missouri, visiting my parents, now for 2 days. The kids have been in "Grandparents Heaven." All the special treatment, playtime, and don't forget the sweets!

They have been so busy watching the cows and horses, playing in the playhouse with water from the little creek, playing with the kitties, running around outside with almost 100 acres available to them, shadowing Grandpa & Grandma, and they still have naps(Isaac & Joanna) or do school (Hannah & Abigail). They are getting some wonderful fresh air and lots of exercise!

Hopefully, Thursday I will take some pictures and post them. Then anyone who loves nature and the outdoors can be jealous. :) You might even have to plan a visit to Black, Missouri and stay at their vacation rental, Koinania Cottage. Check them out at Koinania (Isn't it my duty to spread the word, however shamelessly?)

Tomorrow we (me and 4 kids), drive up to Springfield, IL to visit my Grandparents, my cousin Alice & kids, and my sister Rebecca! Plus, I will meet up with my sis Emily, from Kentucky. Then she will accompany us back down to MO. It should be fun!

I'm excited to see everyone and spend some time together. Phone calls just don't do justice! I only wish my cousin Gen lived closer so she could visit with us too!! :( At least we have Memorial Day weekend!

Well, I promised my mother that I would bake a cake for her, so I should get to it.

Climber

I know this picture is way old, but I thought it was better than nothing. Joanna is about 2 weeks old.

What is the use of a baby gate when all of my kids have learned how to climb over it ? I like to gate off my kitchen so there is less stuff for my little ones to get into, but now Joanna (22months) has learned the technique of climbing over it from her brother and sisters. Onto a new phase now I see! It's time to establish kitchen rules.

She has always been a climber. I believe she has at least attempted anything that gives her the option and few things can keep her down. She is quite sure footed and confident in her abilities.

Poo or Chocolate ?

Well, today is a day of cleaning and preparation. I and 4 kids are leaving tomorrow for a 9 hour drive to spend a week in Missouri with my wonderful family. While we are gone, our pastor and his son are going to paint our Living Room and Hallway. So, we need to get the house cleaned up and the rooms ready to be painted. I'm a bit nervous and excited!

I grew up with a mother who felt strongly that all walls should be white or some version of white. When my sisters and I convinced her to let us paint our room a very light green we were excited! Well, I have chosen a color that is not white, or even close to it. It is techinically called autumn wheat, but I painted a small area on the wall and now I'm a little nervous. Right now I think it looks a little like poo, but I'm hoping when all is said and done it will look more like a room full of chocolate! Who wouldn't like that ?! So, maybe I will take some pictures of before and after and see what opinions you all have. I'm thinking that I should just blame my mom for all my trepidation being that she attempted to brainwash me with the "white walls rule" and all.

Now back to laundry, packing, cleaning, and everything else on my to do list today.

Loser ?

I had a little concern about starting a blog and then no one ever reading it. That would be so embarrassing!! So, I am relieved that my concern was for nothing and I'm not a complete loser. Thanks to you all who have visited my blog and some even leaving me wonderful comments! Now the test will be to see if I can keep you coming back. (My mom and sisters don't count. They are under family obligation!)

I'm sorry that I must go now, the lawn mower is calling my name. Maybe I should change my name ?

It's Out

OK
So, now I have e-mailed some of my friends and family and told them about my new blog. I guess we'll see if things get a bit more interesting on here.

So far today nothing exciting has happened. I've folded laundry, fed the kids, took them all for a short walk, and just survived a few more hours of motherhood. It's actually been a pretty decent day, but it is only 1:24pm. I hope you all have a great day!!

Beginning

My friends and family are blogging, so I thought maybe I should try it. I do not guarantee any regularity or depth for that matter, but it should be fun. With 4 children ranging in age from 6 down to almost 2, and homeschooling, time is not handy. So, let's see how this goes!

Thanks for reading!!
